19.04.2012 - Improved GSM and 3G connections
We have aquired a 3G repeater for our server room which will improve the GSM and 3G signal strength and connections.
The 3G repeater is operator independent and doesn't force our customers to select just a certain service provider.
"We have several server hotel customers who use 3G or GSM for their servers e.g. for providing SMS services. This investment aims to guarantee a flawless data transfer for these customers on the GSM and 3G networks too." says the SJR:s Managing director Sami Ritsilä.
The 3G repeater is installed in our server room and the installation work was done without causing any interruptions to our services.

16.04.2012 - UPS-system expansion
We have aquired a new redundant UPS system from Newave Finland which will ensure even better backup power availability during any power outages.
"The system will complement our current Powerware UPS enabling us to guarantee the Ficora 54/2008 server room requirements in the future too. The new UPS system is also necessary to ensure smooth power availabily for our constantly expanding server room" says the SJR:s Managing director Sami Ritsilä.
The new UPS system will be installed during the April and May when some of the servers will be moved to a new UPS. The most critical servers have redundant dual PSU:s where one is connected to a new UPS and the other to an old one ensuring a better redundancy.
We will inform more about the matter in our technical bulletins at a later time.

We have aquired a new NetApp file server to which all the customers will be moved to in phases during the coming moths.
"With the new file server, the local backup cycle is increased and files can be restored even though they were not included in the external backup previous night." says the SJR:s Managing director Sami Ritsilä.
"The system if also self adapting and it can learn to keep the most often requested files in the cache or on faster hard disks. This will speed up especially the Open Source software which have a lot of common files." says the SJR:s Managing director Sami Ritsilä.
In the process we are also updating the web server software like the PHP. We are informing our customers directly via email at a later time.

29.02.2012 - Changes in telephone switch board
We changed the telephone operator in our switch board in 28.2.2012. The main purpose is to improve the queing information the customers waiting on the line will recieve. We are able to answer 92% of the incoming calls right away. For the rest 8% there are usually 1 - 2 customers waiting on line during the rush hours in the morning and the noon. With the new switch board the customers can be informed of their incoming turn.
During the switch there occurred some problems which we are currently solving with our operator. Because of this, some of our telephone numbers are temporarily unavailable.
